You should not watch Day Shift starring Jaime Foxx

Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco star in "Day Shift," a vampire hunting movie. The movie follows the story of a hard working blue collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires as part of an international Union of vampire hunters.

The premise sounds exciting, but can J.J. Perry deliver on it?

The opening scene in "Day Shift" is a crazy action sequence with Jamie Foxx shotgun blasting the hell out of an old lady who turns out to be a vampire, which then becomes this nuts fight sequence between the two of them that is such a blast. This kind of ragdoll physics makes the action scenes really pop. I think the movie does a better job than most action movies on Netflix or blockbusters. When you watch a scene like this, it is easy to remember the old saying "action speaks louder that words", and while I agree with the statement, I think the key to "Day Shift's" success is the way it uses dialogue and action to develop the characters and further the plot. Jamie Foxx's blog post vampire-killing scene ends with him having a funny and dry conversation about how he thought she would turn into a bat or some other creature. These moments are what make "Day Shift" stand out from other similar films.

Day Shift is another non-serious, fun film that I felt I could truly enjoy the entire time. I didn't think about it too much. There was great action that was new and it was enjoyable to watch. I enjoyed the humor and found myself laughing quite a lot. It also drew inspiration from the brilliant vampire films Blade and Lost Boys, two of my all-time favorite films. The acting was flawless, the directing excellent and the cinematography very impressive. Day Shift is a film that's both entertaining and lighthearted. It's a lot fun.

Day Shift was a very mixed movie. While there were some good action scenes, and some interesting characters (the two brothers, Seth), the villain was terrible, and there were a lot mediocre characters. I suppose that helps the more talented characters shine. It seemed like there were missing scenes that were not cut. Bud's neighbor acts as if they are friends even though she had only 3 minutes of screentime before the final scene. Bud started making prank phone call after she got to work at the gas station. This was the best part of the movie. It was hilarious. I loved it. However, the movie didn't end as well. So, overall, I'd say that Day Shift is a mixed bag. Some parts are wonderful, while others are awful. This movie is great for those who want to have a good time and laugh.

Snoop dogg makes the entire movie worth watching. Snoop Dogg is a favorite of many. He is the epitome of cool.
